Chopped Cabbage and Tangerine Chicken Salad with Vietnamese Fish Sauce
you're gonna want to drink this sauce with a straw
This is seriously my new favorite salad, its super low effort and comes together really quickly. Even though we only use 1/2 a cabbage, the whole salad left me with about 3-4 days worth of leftovers, making it perfect for meal prep. Some days I had it as a full meal with the shredded chicken, but most nights I just used it as a yummy side salad.
I highly recommend checking out the notes at the bottom of this page for added tips and suggestions, like I prepared the chicken for the salad. I also linked a Martha Stewart post on how to supreme your citrus if you’re feeling inspired to learn a cool little culinary trick! It’s really not hard, its mostly just time consuming so keep that in mind if you’re making this right before dinner and don’t have the patience to individually cut apart each tangerine segment lol. It’s not necessary in my opinion but it definitely makes for a smoother, juicier, and prettier dining experience.
I order most of my citrus from Rincon Tropics out in CA, it is 100% the most bougie thing I’ve ever done but it’s also the best fruit I’ve ever had in my life. You know when you’re on vacation and you eat a piece of fresh fruit and it makes you wonder if you’ve ever actually eaten real fruit before? Yeah that’s what this fruit box feels like. The first time I tried their pixie tangerines I nearly shed a tear, then I tried the passionfruit and my soul was immediately transported to a beach in Costa Rica. I typically order the small seasonal box but since it had been so long since I last ordered, I decided to treat myself to a large. I’m so surprised, I received it over 2 weeks ago and I still have sooo much left.
